Bridging the Gaps Through Case Management

Family homelessness in Franklin County has been on the increase over the past several years. This crisis has resulted in numerous service conditions: more emergency food and heating requests, long waiting lists for public housing and rental assistance, increases in requests for public assistance - in other words, increased multiple basic needs of families requiring service coordination and management. The Homeless Families Foundation Program Staff can assist client families through:

  • Linkage to supportive services: housing options, mental health services, substance abuse, pregnancy support, domestic violence, parenting and nutrition support.
  • Employment assistance and referrals for GED classes and training;
  • Client meetings with a Case Manager to focus on personal and family goals, including acquiring/ maintaining permanent housing;
  • Monthly individual budgeting counseling for families;
  • A year round education center program to assist in stabilizing, nurturing, and providing support  for the academic, social, recreational, and psychological needs of homeless and at-risk children in elementary and middle school;  the program includes both Afterschool  and  full time Summer Programs.
